The Queensland government is still considering their options after The Supreme Court of Queensland overturned a ban on knives in schools for religious reasons.

The law in Queensland under the Weapons Act says it’s prohibited to carry knives at a school without a reasonable excuse, and religion is included in this category, finding the law inconsistent with the Racial Discrimination Act.

The ban decision affected directly to the Sikh community, as kirpans are part of this community sector’s culture and religion.
