Across the country, activists and leaders are meeting to talk about raising the minimum age of criminal responsibility. Currently, children aged 10 can be arrested and put through the court system – this disproportionately affects indigenous children.
Today in Adelaide a rally was held with calls to raise this minimum age from 10 to 14, and highlighted how it relates to the rising amount of Indigenous deaths in custody. Aboriginal leaders spoke about the change as well as the issues that their communities face.
