Following the suspension of the soft plastics recycling program, REDcycle, Australians have been encouraged to dispose their plastic waste in landfill instead of dropping it at big supermarkets.
Despite the controversy surrounding the program’s collapse, a deeper issue may concern industry faults that have not facilitated proper solutions to accommodate waste disposal.
While attention has surrounded the future of soft plastic disposal, general waste and the habits that produce mass waste could be a bigger problem that Australians are overlooking.
