The New South Wales ambulance service is struggling to upskill its regional workforce due to a change in training delivery for intensive care paramedics.
Intensive care paramedics are trained to deliver an extra level of care to people in trauma, including authority to administer more drugs, but barriers to qualification means many ambulance personnel are not taking the extra step.
