Preliminary counts of the Samoan election ballot indicate the incumbent Human Rights Protection Party (HRPP) party and newcomer Fa’atuatua i le Atua Samoa ua Tasi (FAST) party have evenly split the vote, at 25 seats each.
The outcome will be determined in coming weeks, but regardless of who wins control, the election heralds a new era of political debate and accountability not seen in the country for decades.
