The much anticipated departure of former Prime Minister Scott Morrison from Federal Parliament was realised today as the member for Cook issued a statement that said he would be resigning in the next parliamentary sitting at the end of February 2024.
The question of what he would do next was that it would be “a series of global strategic advisory roles and private boards, focused on the US and Indo-Pacific, drawing on his experience and networks in the region, in particular through AUKUS and the Quad”
The toxic environment in the year following the election appears to have played a role in blocking him from finding a position outside of parliament earlier. Bill Shorten’s reaction has yet to be reported.
