South Australia’s coastlines remain in the grips of a harmful algae which is now established in more metropolitan beaches and Westlakes. While marine experts once looked to the state’s first cold front as a beacon of hope for the bloom’s disperse, weather change offered little relief.
As storms cleared, algae has lingered, and in many instances, its spread has worsened across the state.
While concern for the marine environment intensifies so too does impact on businesses and coastline communities, seeing industries and environmental campaigners call for broader action on the devastating situation.
