With extreme weather conditions already being felt around Australia, experts are warning people to be on the alert for mosquito related diseases like Japanese encephalitis.

Over the last two summers, La Nina ushered in heavy rains and unprecedented flooding across the country, the consistent wet conditions ripe for mosquito spread.

What do we need to know about these diseases? And what precautions should you take as many prepare for a hot, wet summer?
