A recent study done by the Commissioner for Children and Young People was released this week and there were startling findings. 49% of girls aged between 16-17 years old and 31% of boys had experienced some form of unwanted sexual behaviour in the past 12 months. Additionally, more than one quarter said they have had unwanted sex.
This has been the result of a failed sex education system according to Crikey columnist and author of Ten-ager Madonna King.
