An historic U.S.-U.K.-Australia alliance military agreement, AUKUS, has recently taken a new turn. Two powerful U.S. lawmakers have proposed to the Joe Biden administration that selling nuclear submarines to Australia would help stretch the U.S. industrial base to “breaking point” and relieve pressure on the base.
A strong alliance between the three countries would help forge an open and free Indian Ocean and Pacific Ocean. Despite the current stability of bilateral relations between China and Australia, this contract certainly makes the Chinese side feel distressed.
