TikTok has been banned from Australian government devices. The decision was made on April 4, 2023 due to government concerns about the misuse of data collected from users. The United Kingdom, United States, Canada and New Zealand have made similar decisions.

Currently TikTok is owned by the Chinese company ByteDance, which reaffirms the possible risk of delivering sensitive information into the hands of the Chinese government. The danger of TikTok arises from the possibility of espionage conducts or data sales.
