An Australian researcher says Australia faces an ‘incredibly difficult’ task over the next 15 to 20 years to train enough people to support the AUKUS nuclear submarine program.

 

According to the UNSW Head of Nuclear Engineering Program, there will be major challenges in identifying and training vast numbers of a three-tiered workforce required for this program. 

 

This labor shortage combined with having to deliver nuclear-powered submarines as a country with only one nuclear plant means there are multiple challenges that need to be addressed.
