Victoria has become the first Australian state to introduce treaty legislation into Parliament.
The bill will establish the First People’s Assembly – renamed Gellung Warl – as a permanent authority with powers over decision making, oversight, and truth-telling. The bill will also embed First People’s history into the education curriculum, which will make sure the treaty has broad and lasting support.
