Donald Trump was formally indicted in Miami for offences under the Espionage Act – 37 charges in all. He plead Not Guilty to all charges.
Most of the charges related to the holding of documents he took from the White House after he left for his Mar-a-Lago resort when he lost the 2020 election. All documents relating to a Presidency by law goes to the National Archives and Records Administration and they referred the matter of missing documents to the FBI and Justice department. There is a recorded conversation where Trump effectively skites that there are still documents in Mar-a-Lago. Trump refuses to acknowledge this law and says he should be charged under the Presidential Records Act, but this is not his to choose.
