Research released by the Bankwest Curtin Economics Centre and the Workplace Gender Equality Agency shows it could take 26 years to see the gender wage gap close.
The report showed that male dominated sectors show the most amount of growth towards wage equality, while female dominated sectors are more apathetic towards closing the gap.
Organisations who implement gender equality policies and practice measures, have lower wage gaps and are able to stay on top of those gaps by regular wage analysis of workers.
The report found progress to lower the gap is stalled, with the current gender wage gap is sitting at 20.1%, however there is an expected increase as Australia recovers from COVID-19.
