Egypt’s geographical proximity to the Gaza Strip has placed it in a delicate position within the context of the HAMAS-Israel conflict. Egypt shares the only non-Israeli border with the Gaza Strip, which has significant implications.
On one hand, Egypt is one of the few nations in the Arab world to have a peace treaty and normalised communication with Israel. On the other hand, Egypt is home to the Muslim Brotherhood, which is the parent organisation of HAMAS, making the situation even more complex.
