This August marks Multicultural Queensland Month, and this time each year provides an opportunity to celebrate the cultural and linguistically diverse communities that make up the population, reflect on their experiences and feelings of inclusion and understand how to move forward when addressing community concerns and issues.

Particularly impactful are initiatives created by former refugees themselves, as they have knowledge and understanding of key issues that impact different groups of their community, and how to manage these in an empowering and collective way.

Afghan Women on the Move is one such initiative seeking to provide a safe platform for Afghan women to build their confidence and skills to thrive in Australia.
