Yesterday the Wagner Group – the mercenaries favoured by Vladimir Putin – announced that they had gained “administrative control” of Bakhmut, now nothing more than burnt out war materials and rubble.

The Ukrainians are still fighting in a sector of the city however, bleeding dry the Russian resources that otherwise would be used in spring offensives.

Tanks from allies will allow the Ukrainians more flexibility in their response to attacking Russian Forces.
