The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) has kept The Great Barrier Reef off of its “in danger” list for another year.

The reef is still under serious threat of coral bleach as we are barreling towards a summer scorcher, and a mass bleaching event is likely to occur because of it.

UNESCO will be back next year to reexamine the reef, and it may put The Great Barrier Reef on its list next year. Still, the organisation only works in an advisory capacity, and the real work of saving the reach must be from Australian shores.
